In almost all cases it is wasted space that can be turned into living space. If the attic is used for storage there is no need to lose all of this storage space as some attic space can be retained.

Loft conversion or roof conversion is often cheaper than extending your home outwards and potentially increase the value of your property by 10% to 20%. In addition you often do not need planning permission for a loft conversion or basement conversion. It may be possible to complete the work without removing the existing roof covering or making any major structural alterations.

Most new builds can have a timescale of 4-12 months to construct, this depends on the size, complexity, and materials specification.

Sometimes it is difficult to confirm the exact moving in date until your project is nearing completion. However, the following schedule will give you an idea of what to expect and how your project will progress:

Stage 1 - Structural Work

Site clearance. Foundations substructure and sub floor. Superstructure. Floor joist /floor slabs. Roof, windows and make watertight.

Stage 2 - First fix

Main plumbing.
Main electrical work.
Main joinery doorframes, staircases etc.
Internal ceilings (plasterboard lining).

Stage 3 - Second fix

Taps, sanitaryware and final plumbing. Sockets, switches and final electrical work. Architraves, skirting, doors and final Joinery.

Stage 4 - External works

Rendering finishes. Garden, patio, fencing.

Stage 5 - Finals

Wall and floor tiles. Decoration.
